Taking a short break

After I push out 2.1.23, which will probably be this evening, I'm going to be taking a few days break – I won't be doing any programming or documentation for Wordbooker and neither will I be providing any support – so either I'm totally confident about 2.1.23 or I don't care any more …. you decide!

There is only one of me working on this project in my spare time round a full time job which involves being on call, and in the past few weeks I've had some pretty unrealistic expectations of support from people. Remember Wordbooker is free and support is on an "as is, when I can" basis – I do not provide 24/7 support nor do I provide any sort of SLA. That is one of the reasons why the "Professional" version has never made it to "market" because it would just put too much load on me and I cannot justify paying another developer to handle some of the work.

I'm still planning on getting 2.2 out before the middle of November unless I decide I don't want to risk doing that before I head off to Maine for 2 weeks, and of course if I get loaded down with real work then all time-scales are out of the window.

Rest, sir. Thank you for all your work.

  2. Dear Sir,

Thank you for your job! Wordbooker is absolutely awesome.

Your support is excellent Steve. I’m glad I’ve donated and I think I will every year I use it. Now… other folks using the plug-in: get to donating! Even if you can’t spend much, just hit that Paypal donate button on the right side of WB’s site and kick in some cash. If WB goes to a fee only system, I’m still going to buy it. I use it that much… there isn’t anything else out there like it.

Jon, it would be great if more of the several thousand users of the app shared your views. I will never move WB to a fee only system.. it will always remain free..
